General insurance Who are the people that cannot contract with insurance?

The category of people that can not contract with insurance are:

(1) MINORS OR INFANTS
A minor is a person below 18 years of age or below 21 years of age. A minor has not the full contractual capacity as other person s to enter into a contract of insurance . But he can do so if it is for his benefit( for necessaries or contract of apprenticeship). If, however, the contract is not for his own benefits. It is not binding on him in the sense that he is at liberty to avoid it.

(2) DRUNKEN AND INSANE PERSON
A certified drunk or one suffering from mental infirmity is incapable of entering in to a contract of insurance. In imperial Life Assurance of Canada vs Audett (1912), the insurer's agent was aware of the drunken condition of the prospective assured, but his nevertheless made him sign the proposal form. It was held that the contract was not binding on the drunk.
It is important to not that in certain circumstances, a contract involving a mentally infirmed or a drunken person may be violable not void.

(3) ENEMY ALIENS
An alien could be seen as a person who is resident in one state but is the subject of a foreign state.
In peace time an alien has the same contractual capacity as a citizen of the country he is residing


(4) CORPORATION
A corporation is an artificial person legally distinct from that of its owners.
The Most common form of corporation is a registered company which is a business organization incorporated by registration under the companies and Allied Matters Decree, 1990.

This are the people that are not allow to contract under insurance and more.
