What Are Some Disadvantages Of Being A Tenant?

A Tenant is a person who does not own a property. However, he or she has a legal right to live in the property owned by another person due to the fact that they pay rent on monthly or yearly basis to the person or people who own the property. Renting houses or property is a common kind of thing. There are many people who rent out houses. However, just because a person has rented a house, it obviously does not even make that person a "partial owner" of that property. Obviously this means that there are many disadvantages of being a tenant.

One of the biggest disadvantages is that obviously you must pay the rent and you must pay the rent anyhow whatever the case might be. There are no excuses for that. If the tenant fails to pay the rent, then they will no longer have the legal right to stay in the property. Secondly, one of the biggest disadvantage of being a tenant is that you cannot alter the property because you do not own it. When you rent a car, you just cannot alter it or paint it. Similarly, the case is quite similar with renting a property. What are some other disadvantages of being a tenant?

We rented an apartment for 2 years and then we moved to a rented house for 5 years. Those were the months that our budget goes to the rental expense with nothing for us. My father said that a tenant is like saving money in a bag with a big hole because after those years that you have paid the monthly rent you have nothing to show. However, we were fortunate that the owner of the apartment and of the house did not raise the rent even if there is a law that allows a landlord to increase the rent every year.

We were lucky to have been granted the benefit of a housing loan by the bank that I worked for. Even if the monthly installment was more than 50% of the rent that we were paying for the house but this house that we bought is already ours.

There are so many disadvantages of being a tenant even when you are fulfilling the necessary role of paying your due rent. A tenant is someone who does not own a right to a property because he lives under the auspices of another person's property. As a tenant, you would never have the freedom of remodelling the property to your taste or satisfaction and this is because you have no such right. As a tenant, you have to follow the strict rules and regulations laid down by the land owner. As a tenant, most especially if you are living in the same vicinity with the landlord, you would have to be more cautious and self-aware so you do not upset or trigger the house owner. You will have to curtail somethings that might be regarded as excesses, you will not have the leverage to stay out late or you might risk being locked outside. You will have to adhere to every unfavourable conditions or you have the option of moving out. It is the dream of virtually everyone to have a property attached to his or her name and this is always one of the biggest achievements where people mark out when achieved.

Tenants are typically bound to a lease, which can make it difficult to move if their living or financial situation changes. If a tenant breaks a clause in their lease, they may be fined or forced to pay for damages that occurred. A landlord cannot force a tenant to leave their home until the lease period has expired or the tenant has broken a clause in the lease. However, the landlord can change the locks on the unit and hold a tenant's possessions hostage until they pay for any damages or fines accrued.

Tenants who are not sure exactly what type of living arrangement they want—for instance, whether they want to live by themselves, with roommates, or with strangers—may benefit from first learning more about themselves and what kind of person they would like to live with before they sign a lease and become an official tenant. Renting an apartment is something that should be done carefully and slowly so tenants know exactly what they are getting into before they have to move out.

Tenants are typically at the mercy of landlords when it comes to issues like maintenance and repairs.
If the landlord refuses to make repairs or ignores requests, the tenant has little recourse.

Landlords can also raise rent at any time, and typically do so every year.
Tenants usually do not have a right to terminate a lease early.

Tenant rights are less extensive than landlord rights.
Tenants have fewer legal rights than landlords.

Tenants have less control over the property they rent.
Landlords can evict tenants without cause and without a court hearing sometimes.

We we all believe that everything in this world that has advantage will definitely has its own disadvantage, which may be as a result of many factors
Being tenant has many but to Mention few disadvantage, but I think its disadvantage seems to superceed the advantage, it us better to be in your house or rather it is better to be the land lord than to be the tenant, because as tenant you don't have power over the house, while as a land lord power, authority is over to you, you can pursue the tenant anytime, apart from settling your land lord which may be either yearly, anually or even monthly, it depends on your agreement with the land lord, but I believe as Oma

The only thing that could possibly be a disadvantage in tenancy is that you do not really have a control over the property you are renting , the real owner of the property is the one that controls it while you are just living in them .

Sometimes you could easily be exposed to so much abuse and deprivation of natural amenities if the real owner of this property you are renting is not really a man with consideration. Apart from paying of rent when renting an apartment with good landlords I don't really think that there is any serious problem since everything will be provided based on the amount of money you have paid .

Some tenants are fun of having problem with landlord in most cases but personally I don't really know why this happened because when you were living as a tenant sometimes ago we don't usually have problems with our landlords . Everything was perfect because we understand our right as a tenant and the landlord also understand their right and both of us do not violate each other's boundary.

When the day is understanding between landlord and tenant 3 is likely to be no problem.

Being a tenant can be frustrating especially for a family man that have a wife and children. There are some situations that are not palatable but he has to endured for the sake of his family.

The struggle to pay house rent. This is the first issue with being a tenant. Tenants always run helter skelter seeking help whenener there is a time of payment for their house rent. Some have involved in some dirty acts just to meet up with the house rent.

There are some embarrassments from landlords, and sometimes from children of landlords in some cases.
