Fasting is all the rage these days, with a number of celebrities and public figures swearing by intermittent fasting or extended fasting as a way to lose weight and keep it off. But if you just eat whatever you want when you're not fasting, you could end up gaining weight instead of losing it. Here are some tips for what to eat while fasting so you can avoid gaining weight :-

While fasting, your body will be in a state of ketosis, in which your body burns fat for energy instead of relying on sugar (which would be found in carbs). This means that if you eat foods that are high in sugar or carbs while fasting, your body won't be able to burn them off. For this reason, experts recommend eating protein-rich foods while fasting that are low in carbs and sugar. This includes eggs, fish and other seafood, dairy products (especially plain Greek yogurt), poultry (but skinless), lean meats like beef or bison, and non-starchy vegetables like spinach or kale.

In addition to avoiding carbs and sugar, it's also important to avoid processed foods while fasting because they're usually high in sodium (salt) and unhealthy fats. Instead, look for fresh meat from your local butcher shop or farmer's market.
