Business studies is the study of business related activities and how they affect the society. It is a course that deals with activities such as production, distribution and consumption of goods and services. These activities are carried out with the aim of satisfying human wants and to make profits.

Aspects of business studies.
In order to make profits a business must have a product, which should be made available to the customers. Consumption of the product has to take place for the producers or service providers to benefit.
-Production refers to the creation of goods and services. It includes activities such as road construction, manufacturing, farming and services such as teaching.
-Distribution is the process of moving goods and services from the producer to the consumer. Distribution involves activities such as transport, storage, insurance, communications and advertising.

Business studies is composed of five disciplines which they include:
1. Accounting - This refers to a systematic way of recording business transactions for future reference or for decision making.
2. This is the study of trade and aids to trade. Aid to trade are human activities that assist trade to take place, for example transport, banking and communication. Trade refers to the exchange of goods and services for money.
3. Economics - This is the study of how human beings strive to satisfy their endless wants using the available scarce resources.
4. Entrepreneurship - This is the process of identifying a business opportunity and getting the necessary resources to start and run the business.
5. Office practice - This refers to all the activities that are carried out in an office, for example filling, communication and reproduction of documents.

Therefore studying business as a course or career it equips us with skills and knowledge on how we can start our own business and run them without any problems. Even if you are employed to work in any business or organisation it helps you with the skills needed so as to prosper in your work.
