In the past, coffee was generally considered damaging to heart health. Coffee has been said to increase blood pressure, increase cholesterol levels, and increase the risk of heart attack and cardiac arrhythmia. However, recent and more careful studies suggests differently.

Recent studies suggests that coffee probably does not increase the risk of heart disease. In fact, in some cases, it is even beneficial. Why this contradiction? It is because some previous studies did not adequately take into account other heart disease risk factors.

The other heart disease risk factors are lack of exercise and smoking. The most recent studies have looked at controlling these risk factors for confusion. These most recent studies say that when consumed in moderation, coffee does not increase heart risk.
