As a manager you can be both firm and friendly as exhibiting these attitudes comes with great benefits for both the employees and the company.

So how can you be both a strong leader and a likable one. These are here:

Make Good Communication a Priority
This is one tip to adopt. You need to communicate in a clear terms to aid your subordinates to perform better.

Give Your Employees Independence.
It will show how friendly you are when you don't interfer in the private lives of your employees.

Know Everyone's Role.
you would be liked the more if you understand the employees roles and Get To Know Staff on a Personal Level. This will help build confidence in your workers.

Offer Your Employees a Support System.
There's no body that wouldn't want a good support from a manager so adopt this and try to be as reliable.as you can.

What do you think?

A good manager is not just an effective leader, he or she is also a likeable one. In fact, being likeable is an essential part of being a good manager. If you don't have the respect of your people, it's almost impossible to lead them effectively. And if they don't respect you, they won't follow your direction and they'll actively resist your efforts to get things done.

So how do you become a more likeable manager? A few simple strategies can help:

Be approachable. Make sure that your office door is always open and available for anyone to come in and talk with you. If someone needs to speak with you urgently, let them know ahead of time that they can come see you at any time without an appointment (but also make sure that this isn't abused). When someone comes in for an unscheduled meeting, don't turn away or ignore them — even if you think it's not important or urgent — because there may be something going on that could affect them or others in the company.

Listen more than you talk. Listening is one of the most important skills for any manager.
