How valuable and important is a payment proof?

I usually try to put one up when I get paid from a site mainly because although most people are honest about what they have earned, some people make outrageous claims about what they make on a site. Are you more likely to try a site if you see a payment proof?

Payment proof seems to be a good way of differentiating between a good/legit forum and scam ones,even though this days some people tends to create a fake payment proof,but one has to be very careful before joining any forum to avoid been scammed.

I do not join a lot of earning sites, I am using only on few and these sites have been in existence for a long time. Payment proof does not impress me much as payment proof can be faked or it is also likely that the site pays in the beginning to impress users and later will stop paying.
