Though I am associated with the racing industry as a stud farm vet, I never have gambled or encouraged anyone to do so.

People they often want to gamble to make money though they have many other options to do so. I think following are the reasons why people want to gamble;

1. To make quick money, As in gambling as one can get the results too fast after putting the bet which is tempting factor for them.

2. The greed factor - the people out of greed they gamble.

3. Many of rich people who don't have dearth of the money gamble for satisfying their ego while they win.

4.There are people who are habitual punters and they gamble under duress.

Do you imagine any other reasons why people gamble?

People gamble cos of poor background. When they realized that gambling can enable them to move out of poverty they immediately start predicting outcome of events, trying to see if they'll get enough money to get out of the poverty strain life that have affected its family to enjoy good life. Hearing others success around gambling makes them too to start gambling.
Yes, I agree with you. Most of the time we get to see many poor people gambling to get rid of their poverty. They are being encouraged by the movies also at times. Because of the false assurance given by the bookies or the people promoting the gambling these people end in losing their hard-earned money

Gambling has been one of the biggest reported problems especially in teenagers and young adults and that is exactly how big the situation is . Gambling is set up in such a way that is usually tries to give you a lot of opium whenever you are betting even if you are losing and in the long run it is going to make you to be completely addictive .
A lot of people usually see it as funny that somebody can actually be addicted to something that is harming them mentally and is also removing money from them . The truth is that a lot of people who are gambling and losing are injecting a lot of money into it at the same time because they believe that they can be able to make the whole of the money that they have lost in one single bit and then at the end of the day they keep up losing more money . It is very advisable that you should practice responsible gaming and you should stop immediately when the phone stops so that you can be able to maximize your income as you are starting your gambling journey. Bookmakers should also be making things like this.

Gambling has a bad spirit that backed it. There are many times that I have said to myself that I will never gamble again. But the bad spirit will convince me to bet and poor me will bet and eventually lose my money.

I can be seated and just thought of a strategy to use to paly betting. See the strategy, I will have convident in me that it will work. And when I use small money and try the strategy, it will work. But when I add more money and continue, it will get to a stage that I will start losing and I will later lose all the money.

It is better we don't think about it at all because someone that have been playing it before, once he remember it and has money in his pocket. He will go back to it. And he will lose money again. There are sometimes that we will have good luck and win . But the winning is not always up to the list. We should all say no to betting because it makes person to remain poor.

It's very well said that gambling can't be categorised as good or bad. It would be a topic of debate. If it was sure to bad, it would have been totally banned and illegal. But we know that it's been legal in many ways in many countries. And it is a big business too. Different people have different risk appetites. And so there would be always some who are willing to take a big risk to try their luck. And it's rightly said that the thrill and entertainment might be other factors that attract a person.
We all have been attracted to that thrill from time to time. And if we give a closer look we would find that gambling has been used as a marketing and promotional strategy too. And knowingly or unknowingly, we all have participated in it.. Collecting a particular brand of cereal boxes to win a scratching card and then scratching it to try our luck to win big... that's something we all can relate. The thrill and excitement is addictive.

Gambling is a vice that people indulge in to escape their problems and in turn create more problems for them like addiction, loss of money, loss of respect and depression.

Most people nowadays want everything fast and there's no any respect for process, we just want to win, we just want to become millionaires, we just want to get fit, you dig?

Is a quick fix world, and gambling is an easy way out to most people, because when you see the winning potential you go berserk and happy because you'll feel like you're lucky and win it, you'll play and get disappointed and you still play again and that's how addiction kicks in for most people, hoping one day you'll cashout big and make all the money you lost back.

In Nigeria, there are more new gambling companies than new businesses, they prey on young people that want to get quick and if you check Facebook and forums, you'll see people opening up on their gambling addiction, it really sad and the government is not doing anything to stop it.

The best advise is not to start at all, ad if you're into it you should quit today don't think twice.

Gambling can be very addictive. It is one of those vices which are very hard to break. Only few people are making a lot of money from gambling and betting.

Betting has done more harm to the people than benefits. The reason why people keep betting with their money is the hope that they are going to make Fortune.

They always keep this hope I when all the odds are against them. The majority of the people who are addicted to gambling I'm ready to use the last card on them to play betting.

Betting is a game of luck there is no guarantee that you are going to make money from every bet you place. I always pity those who are paying betting all the time as they are playing against biggest hard.

I have a younger brother who is making a lot of money from the salon he establish for himself. The only problem is that usually channel all the money he made from the salon to betings.

He has gone to the betting shop to play virtual and lost all the money on him. He even sold his phone, used the money to play betting and loss all the money.

Every gambler probably has their own reason but in general I think it is the thrill of it that gets a lot of people, as well as the hope of making money. Gambling should never be thought about as an investment, though (and vice versa) as many people start getting addicted when they desperately try to win their losses back.

I think that there are various reasons why many people gamble. First of all, gambling is quite addictive,. Many experts say that gambling is as addictive as alcohol or cocaine because gambling stimulates the parts of brain that are involved in addictive behavior. There are many people who form the habit of gambling and they just cannot stop. They erroneously assume that gambling will make them rich. I think that the gambling is a kind of addiction that has some influence over human behavior when it comes to making money. This is because gambling allows a person to make quick and easy money without much effort.

When a person wins more and more money, they tend to adopt that easy way of money as their lifestyle and habit. They think that it is the only way of income. This is how gambling influences a person. Some people do not work because they do not have a job, but they still have a good source of income. They use that money to gamble in casinos and sometimes they win and sometimes they lose. A person is more likely to become addicted to gambling once they start winning more money. But they may lose every thing if they palace a bigger bet. this is why gambling is a really bad and harmful thing.

There is no one who is of age who is devoid of the high level of risks involved in gambling. Gambling is a choice and when once an individual makes his choice, there is nothing that can be done about it. Gambling is like an addiction which intoxicates. Just like investing in Ponzi schemes and Hyip sites, there are people despite loosing their money to various sites under the same pretense, they still invest. No doubt, the logical thing to do would be to avoid those sites but you would still see people engage in them.

Even presently, with the awareness that Hyips are 90% illegitimate and you can hardly find a trusted site even with the use of Hyip monitors, you would still see people invest. They are addicted to it and they ultimately see life as a gamble. I know someone who is addicted to gambling such that he had loaned money to buy a tricycle so he could start a transportation business but he later used the money to gamble and woefully, he lost the money and he was paralyzed due with stroke, that was the end of gambling for him. The fact that there are laws does not mean that people would still not break it purposely and rather dance to the tune of the music or face the consequences.

Gambling is human nature. I'll always go on betting before my wallet is empty.

Hahaha OK I'm not telling you to stop either nor telling you to continue because life itself is full of choices. One thing I know is we all have conscience and therefore what your conscience tells you is what you should do.

if your conscience is not judging you wrong then is good for you but if it judges you wrong then there is a problem. I myself don't know how to gamble and I have not tried it before. I can even say I'm not Lucky in gambling so why should I waste my time to do? My conscience also judge me wrong.

Generally everyone understand that gambling carries a lot of risks and people understand the risks very well but a lot of people still believe that they will be lucky enough for them to make money with these sort of things .

Actually I am not a psychologist so I may not likely be able to understand perfectly the reason why people can be so addicted to something that they themselves knows that is not profitable to them in their life .

I can gives reason why this is happening based on my little understanding. People who are engaging in gambling believes that it will be quite possible for them to earn good amount of money with this and as a result they might invest your money but at the end of the day they will lose this amount of money . Addiction comes in when a gambler start losing money and they will be looking for any possible means to recover the money they have lost .

Base on my point of view I think that the reason why people are addicted to gambling is because they believe they will be a Winner and they will recover the money they have lose to gambling one day .

I think one of the major reasons people gamble is the urge to make fast or quick money and also greed excesses. You cannot pressure someone to stop the act of gambling when the person is already bent on investing or addicted to it. I have been in this situation before, where I was always investing now and then on Ponzi schemes and even when I made losses, it did not deter me. I had thought that through gambling, I would make easier money but I kept getting backfired and it was not a good experience at all.

I have also seen where people are very much addicted to gambling such that they can; use their house rent, school fees, personal savings and risk it all to gambling. One hidden feature or rule in gambling is that, " you cannot be richer than the master." I have seen where individuals make uncalculated bets with their fellow friends and stake huge sums of money all in the name of gambling. Gambling is just like an addictive alcohol and the only way a person can stop gambling is when he or she decides to quit and realize that it is not a sustainable way of making money.

Everybody has definitely seen somebody who is obsessed about something before and gambling is very likely to be one of them . There are some people who are going to continuously keep on losing money to the bookmakers and they are not even going to show any sign of stopping anytime soon .

1. Addiction . There are some people who have been gambling for very long time and as such it has already become psychological impact of them . This means that they are getting other forms of joy from gambling which is aside from winning . Most of the time the only way that you can be able to help these people is if you can be able to take them to a psychologist or they are going to realise just how much they are losing .

2. Wanting to make it back . There are a lot of people who are losing a lot of money because they have lost in the past . This makes them to want to revenge bet where they are going to be able to make all the money that they have lost to the bookmakers in one single bet and most of the time they usually do it out of emotions.

I have already said before in another thread and will keep saying that the act of gambling is very bad especially if you are gambling with your business income and profits men's to buy stock and inventory to replace sold but wanted stock and inventory by the business . it is true that majority of individuals know the harmful effects of gambling to what their financiality and also toward their business but yet they're still in dodge in it Despite knowing that it is harmful . It is important that we know that the act of gambling is very addictive and in fact a lot of people have been gambling addict for a long time and yet they are still a work in progress because they cannot easily get off their habit of gambling .

many businesses and individuals have gone broke and bankrupt as a result of investing their personal income and business income in various gambling and betting platforms in the internet and also offline . Betting and gambling is not totally condemnable , but if you must engage in the act of gambling it must not be a hobby it must just be a way of you too and extra cash luckily . Because in gambling you have the high-potential to lose and the low potential to win . And in most cases you will always lose .

Its an addiction, it has become unstoppable, no matter how you fail, you keep gambling, you don't stop, it is an illness. For many people it is an harmless fun.
Some people know it is wrong and not helping them mentally, financially it has drained their income yet they go ahead to sell properties just so, they have what to use in gambling.
According to phsychologist, the manner these games are designed hooks the brain and mentality of the gambler whether losing or wining he never wants to stop, he just wants to be a part and explore the game damning the consequences.
They keep their hopes high that no matter how long it's taking them, they are definitely going to win and solve so many of their financial issues.
