We are all human beings and in any field, especially in an investment field, you have pleasant experiences and others less pleasant ones.

What was your worst experience investing in stocks? And if you can give some details about how it all started and why you ended up being disappointed.

Our first stocks is owned by Piltel, it is a company that sells pagers. When you buy a pager there is a 300 shares of their stocks that is bundled in the sale. The total amount for paying for the said stocks is $120 only but during the hard time that money is substantial. The pager was good because in my retailing business that pager brought us good sales - it so happened that we didn't have a landline phone which is quite rare in our country during that period. Unfortunately for the shares, the price tumbled down the following year when the cellphone came to town. Texting on the mobile phone is very convenient compared to the use of the pager.

The investment on the Piltel stocks were totally lost. That experience somehow put a stigma on stocks that it made me avoid investing in the stock market. It is a good lesson for a beginner to do a thorough research on a particular stock before diving in.
