There are many hindrances to the development of businesses in the world. Some of them are these;
There are some cultural practices that doesn't allow individuals to be successful business wise like there exists a gap between the successful and the failures and there's always notions and myths behind the same.
Teachers do not encourage their students to be entrepreneurs in schools. Most nations have business studies taught in schools but they only encourage theory but leaving alone the important practical aspect part of it.
The lack of financial and business consultancy institutions in the countries is also a major reason as to why businesses don't prosper as traders lack mentors and role models in the society that can offer advice and proper directions on the most burning and disturbing business operational issues.
Also gender discrimination in many African traditions seems to affect the development of businesses as women seems to be more vibrant in business but can't be given the chances in the traditional African family setups.
