Telemarketing refers to marketing and promoting products using telephone or other kinds of communication devices such as computers and some other sort of digital gadgets that involve reaching the customers directly. Many people find this kind of marketing technique as a way to directly reach the customer in an effective manner because it helps the telemarketing agent to directly communicate with the customer. However, I believe that there are various kinds of disadvantages associated with this kind of marketing. The very first disadvantage is the fact that many people would easily get annoyed and many people would use abusive language against the agent. This could cause psychological issues with the employees.

Moreover, many people would find it quite uncomfortable to receive such kind of solicited calls and they would be reluctant to provide information on the phone, even if the call does not involve extracting any kind of sensitive information from the customer. This is one of the biggest reason you will hardly make any sales even after making hundreds of calls in a day. So what are some of the other disadvantages of telemarketing? One of the major disadvantages of telemarketing is related to spamming. The telemarketers call the random numbers and try to sell the products. Instead of collecting phone numbers from the people who are actually interested in the products and services the telemarketing companies are selling, these telemarketing companies buy telephone numbers from various telecommunication companies and their marketers call these random people. Since telemarketers bother people a lot, telemarketing has got the bad name of spamming. These days most people do not even receive calls from unrecognized numbers, even when they take the call, they will soon hand up; therefore, telemarketing has a poor success rate.
