The lingering issue of nepotism

In big offices nepotism is taboo. It is the hiring of a close relative within the company especially when they 2 would be holding a high position. If you are a manager in a company then you cannot hire a sibling or even your first cousin because of the issue of nepotism. I have 2 office mates who had a relation and they got married. Our manager transferred the wife to another department and even urged her to apply to another company to avoid the issue of nepotism because her husband is with the same company.

It was quite ironic because the president of the bank has an aunt sitting as vice president and his own brother is also a vice president while another brother is a consultant. Oh well, maybe nepotism is an issue if you are an ordinary employee. But if you own the company then nepotism does not apply to you.

You have said it all. Practically, nepotism is applicable to ordinary employees and doesn't apply to the owner of the company. I can't really phantom where they get that idea from. It has become a societal norms , if you are wealthy, drive luxurious cars, you will as well be immuned to certain laws.
You are allowed to break some laws of the land or companies when you are well to do.

That is so sad for the ordinary people. The owners of the company can hire family members but the other lower positions cannot attept to do so. This is understandable for private family companies though. But it is a government institution or organization, nepotism will not be tolerated. Many laws of the governments are against it.
