Moving the location of a business can be as a result of some factors that make such moves inevitable. One very big challenge when moving your business to a new location especially when it has been firmly rooted in a particular location is having to lose lot's of loyal customers. You can limit the effect of this through:

1) Announce the change in location early enough. Usually, a business should start announcing a switch in location one year before the proposed date for the change. It should be hammered as frequently as possible.

2) Let customers understand why the move is necessary: Explain to the customers the benefits the business and customers stand to get from the move.

3) Make sure you give clear and sufficient directions on your new location: Ensure that the new site is not ambiguous and it is very easy for customers to find you. Update your online channels with unambiguous directions to your new location.

4) Keep sending periodic updates with your customer base: Maintain open communication through emails and social media with your customer base after the
move.

At least when changing business locations, open communication with customers is key. Notify them well in advance through multiple channels, such as email, social media, and signage at the old location.

Then try to follow up with customers after the move to ensure they are satisfied and continue to value their business.

While you also need to offer special promotions or discounts for their loyalty during the transition. Provide clear directions to the new location and make the move as seamless as possible.

In relocating a business, it is necessary to have good communication skills, planning skills and customer focused strategies. Enterprises should consider informing customers through many ways in the opening weeks of the move. Additionally, if an organization is rebranding or has moved offices then providing specific directions to the new place, offering rewards for visiting and keeping uniformity with their brand can also help. Consequently, updating contact details in every place and being reachable and responsive to customer issues will minimize confusion as well as maintain trust. Also, firms may choose to provide convenience during transition period while thanking customers for their supportiveness. These steps when taken together with reaching out to clients before they have problems will help organizations relocate successfully without affecting its relationships with them which are still intact.

At times it could be a big deal for most business owners to still retain customers and clients especially when they want to change their business location. As a business owner who want to change his or her business location but still return reasonable amount of customers and clients, the best way in achieving this is by telling them before time that you would be changing your business location and you must give them vivid explanation on where your business would be in case they want to patronize you. You can also give them a flyer or possibly a written notice containing your phone number or your business phone number in case they want to call for more future direction on where your business is newly located.
