There are so many ways that majority of people engage in business activities some of which include selling business groups and services under a structure or possibly hawking it around from one environment to another . But for the purpose of this thread we are basically focusing on hawking business . There is no doubt that Hawking business is considered to be one of the smallest small scale business that an individual can possibly establish and there is no doubting the fact that a Hawking business is profitable but the ability for this kind of business to be profitable totally depends on how determined and persistent the individual who engage in such business is . Despite the fact that this business gives you the floor of convincing and interacting with your customers and clients face-to-face giving them reasons to patronize a business, there are a whole lot of the merit and disadvantage of this kind of business .

In some areas of west Africa this kind of business are being practised by women and children and this totally put them in the condition of becoming a subject or victim to sexual harassment , bullying and even to kidnapping . Most of the time they become subjects and victims to road accident since their job description involve run after vehicles and motorcar so as to get there product or goods marketed possibly to a passenger in a public transport car .

These are the hazards of trying to make ends meet. it can't be easy at all but some people especially those that do not have the qualifications to find a job and a good job at that so they try to fend for themselves through hawking.

As I said when it comes to work it comes with its own hazards and the thing is for those involved to find a way around it. You need to face reality and see how well to avoid it beating you to a pulp.

Though I'm never in support of children Hawkins as I see it as a form of child labour but if a child is sent out for selling then some precautions should be taken to keep the child from harm.Thid is applicable to even the adults hawking.Apply precautions and don't expose yourself to danger like selling at night which might get you molested or killed.

Small-scale business are considered to be more visibly seen and more majority established compared to large scale businesses and that is possibly due to the fact that establishing small scale businesses requires less capital and less technical know-how . Small scale businesses like Hawking do not even require an individual to get a particular training or experience to establish because all you need is to have the persistence and the strength to move his products either by hand or on his or her head from one environment to another and the good thing about this kind of small-scale business is that you have the opportunity to convince your customers and clients face-to-face on why they should patronize a business .
