Growth mindset is the attitude you must have in today's world where competition is tough. The field of education, business and the job market need good people who can think out of the box, but to do so, these people must believe in what they are capable of doing.
You worked hard and you learned some stuff, huh? Plus, it feels good to know you're getting better. But have you ever noticed that there are basically two kinds of people in this world: those who celebrate improvement, and those who only recognize talent? Let me talk to the last group first: if you never settle for just having talent, then you've probably already got a growth mindset . If that's the case--I'm impressed!
Do you believe talent is a fixed or growth phenomenon? As Ellington Darden, founder of Rodan + Fields, once said, "I can take you to a graveyard and show you plenty of 'genius' type people. What did they die from? Boredom. Too little growth." On the other hand, people with a growth mindset thrive on challenges. They look at setbacks as an opportunity to learn and grow. Research shows that those who have a growth mindset tend to be more successful than those who do not.
