Right from when I was an undergraduate in the university, I used to meet people who were pursuing a degree programme in a course called Social Works. I often wondered what career path were available to them if they graduated. Till now, I don't seem to understand the career path available to them.
One of my younger mentees has been offered admission in the course. And she has been asking me what and where she is going to work when she is done with the course. And if there are opportunities for graduates of the course here in Nigeria.
We know that Nigerian universities offer courses that they know is not applicable in the Nigerian environment. Is Social Works one of those courses? Does it have a real application in the Nigerian labor ecosystem. It is easy for google to list career paths. The problem is are those career paths available in Nigeria?
