As the name implies chronic which means severe. Chronic myeloid leukaemia usually comes on in middle age with gradually increasing tiredness and anaemia. The spleen becomes so greatly enlarged that it may give rise to dragging abdominal discomfort and indigestion. There may be troublesome irritation of the skin.

The diagnosis is confirmed by examination of the blood . the white count may be more than 200,000, the majority of the cells being abnormal polymorph I nuclear a.

Treatment may make the patient more comfortable and prolongs life. Busulphan is a drug which delays proliferation of the white cells and had to be taken regularly, the dose being adjusted according to the white count. When the spleen is very enlarge, deep X- ray therapy may be applied to reduce its size.
Chronic lymphatic leukaemia occurs mainly in men and may run a mild course over many years with few symptoms. The spleen is BT greatly enlarged but the lymph glands increase in size. Chlorambuxil is the most useful drug to keep down the white count and has to be taken regularly under medical supervision.

Chronic leukemia is a deadly disease, it is a blood cancer which affect your blood and making the bone marrow to generate excess white blood cells ( WBC ) which are not needed in the body. And this white blood cells occupied most of the space in the blood and leaving little space for the red blood cells and platelets. Studies shows that male are more prone to chronic leukemia than females and leukemia mostly affect children below age 15 and adults that are above 55 years. However, They are rarely seen among childrens unlike adults above 55 years.

Generally, blood cancer (leukemia) are classified into two classes, these are chronic leukemia and acute leukemia. Leukemia can be classified into two classes, these are lymphocytic and myelogenous. The most common symptoms of leukemia are anemia, fever, nauseating, sweating during the night, tiredness, coldness, poor blood clotting, fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, sudden weight loss, seizure and headache etcetera.

Unlike acute leukemia, chronic leukemia develops at low speed and you might not be easily noticed it during the early stages. However, There is no proven causes of leukemia, but scientifically, there are some certain risk factors that can leads to leukemia which includes environmental factor and genetics factors. Chronic leukemia is a type of cancer that gets worse over time and keeps coming back. It's also known as chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), smoldering leukemia, and CML. About 25,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with chronic leukemia each year. Chronic leukemia isn't the same thing as acute leukemia. Chronic leukemia is a slowly progressing cancer of the blood or bone marrow. It develops over many years and progresses slowly, unlike acute or blast phase chronic myelogenous leukemia which develops quickly. The Body produces too many abnormal white blood cells. These abnormal cells are known as leukemic cells. One type of chronic leukemia, known as chronic lymphocytic leukemia, causes the body's immune system cells to accumulate at a fast rate.
