Dialysis is not mandatory for chronic kidney disease patient

When my brother-in-law was found out to have chronic kidney disease the attending specialist prescribed dialysis because the kidneys are very weak. A doctor friend also recommended dialysis.

But the patient who is a physician sought help from a noted nephrologist (specialist for kidney disease). The specialist referred the patient to a dietitian who said that proper diet and physical activities can make the kidneys stronger. It’s been 2 years now that the patient is doing fine with the controlled diet – small quantity of fish and vegetables, very small quantity of meat, 1 liter of water per day plus small portions of fruits. Undergoing dialysis is not only expensive but also hard on the patient’s time. It can be avoided with the help of a good dietitian.

Patients that have kidney problems do not necessarily require dialysis. There is a perfect treatment for kidney problems rather than going for dialysis, because I believe dialysis normally leads to the death of kidney patients.

A person with kidney problems needs to desist from eating foods that have a high salt content. Sodium in salt usually aggravates the kidney problem. A person with kidney problems needs to consume a lot of vegetables and fruits. Vegetables and fruit contain some essential nutrients that can minimize the effects of a kidney problem in the body.
