Being a good painter is a combination of skills. You need to be able to sketch, draw and make a 3-dimensional model. You also need to have the technical skills to paint on different types of surfaces such as canvas, wood and metal. A good painter can work in any medium from oil paint to watercolor.

The first skill you will want to develop is drawing. Drawing will give you a foundation for painting. You may not think about it this way at first, but if you don't have a basic understanding of how light and shadow work together with perspective then it will be very difficult for you to create realistic images in your art.

Once you have learned how to draw, then it's time for the next skill: painting! Painting is more than just putting colored paint on paper. It requires an understanding of how pigments interact with each other under different lighting conditions and how they react when wet or dry. This knowledge will allow you to create realistic paintings that look like they were done by someone else instead of just relying on someone else's ideas about what real life looks like (which are usually wrong).

The third skill necessary for becoming a good painter is learning how to sculpt objects out of clay or wood with your hands.

Painting is a skill that is required in the modern world. There are many different types of painting, but they all have one thing in common: they require great skill to do well. You can't just measure a canvas, paint some colors on it and call yourself a painter. That would be like saying that you're an architect without ever learning how to draw or construct an arch.

Painting requires patience, imagination, and knowledge of color theory. You need to know what colors go well together and how they work with your subject matter (the way sunlight affects trees, for example). If you want to do good work as a painter, you need to study your subject carefully before you start painting it.

Here are some other things that can help you become a better painter:

* You'll want to learn about perspective drawing

* You'll probably want to learn about composition

* You'll want to learn about lighting techniques

* You should also study color theory

If you want to become a good painter, then you should try these things out first: get some books on art history and composition; read them carefully; and then start drawing from life from different angles so that you can see how objects look from all sides of them.
