Networking can be intimidating, but it's also one of the best ways to get ahead. If you're not sure where to start, here are some tips for success:
1. Be genuine! Networking is about relationships, so be genuine in what you say and how you say it. Don't try to be someone else or fake your way through the conversation just be yourself and let the other person know that they can trust you.
2. Make a plan! Before every networking event, make a list of people who might be able to help your career or give you advice on current events in your industry. Then go through that list before each event and try to connect with at least one person from each list.
3. Be prepared! Bring business cards with information about yourself and what job title you're seeking at each event so people know who they should talk with next time around!
4. Go to an event that's relevant to your industry and find someone who looks like they'd be fun to talk with.
5. Ask them questions about themselves and their job, then listen intently until they have nothing left to say!
