As a massage therapist, you need to be able to assess and treat the body's mobility, pain, and therapeutic needs. You also need to understand what causes the problem or injury so that you can provide the best treatment for it. The following are some of the skills you'll need:

Physical assessment

A physical assessment is an examination of a person's body and health, including any injuries or illnesses. It can include checking vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate, listening to the lungs with a stethoscope, looking at muscles and joints, and touching various parts of the body.

Supplying information about injuries or illnesses

To supply information about injuries or illnesses, your client will need to tell you what happened during an accident or when they first started feeling unwell. If there is any specific information they want you to know about their condition, this should be included in their notes. This includes any relevant medical history, symptoms (such as headaches), and past medical treatment (if applicable).

Providing advice on safe movement and prevention techniques.
