This topic reminds me of the bowling tournament when I was working in a bank. Each department has a team of 5 players that play against other teams in rotation. Although our team landed in the top 5 finish but did not win a trophy but we won a lot in the camaraderie and also with new friends. With that sports tournament we got to know the other bank employees.
A sports activity in the company is a positive approach for the enhancement of the interpersonal relationship of employees. It makes me wonder why they subscribe to the modern day team building activities that proponents charge very high fees. I would prefer to just hold a sports tournament which is cheaper and more enjoyable than the team building activities which has only parlor games to offer. I am advocating the sports tournament because I have experienced the benefits of the games. By the way, I was appointed team captain of our bank’s bowling team when we competed in the inter-bank bowling tournament.
