OpenNode has teamed with Real Bedford FC to accept bitcoin payments.
For game tickets, merchandise, sponsorships, and concessions, the club will take BTC.
Real Bedford will soon begin paying its players and employees with bitcoin.

Real Bedford, the world's first football team to run on the Bitcoin standard, has partnered with payment processing firm OpenNode to advance its goal of accepting bitcoin for all of the club's products and services.

The club's decision on a payment processing method follows Real Bedford's announcement of a bitcoin custody approach a few weeks ago. The English football club teamed up with Bitcoin security firm Casa earlier this month to use a multi-signature, self-custody cold storage technology to protect its bitcoin treasury.

Real Bedford FC will be able to take bitcoin for online and in-person game tickets, merchandising, sponsorships, and concessions at games thanks to the OpenNode interface. According to a blog post by OpenNode, the club also plans to start paying players and staff with bitcoin in the near future.

According to the blog post, Real Bedford owner and Bitcoin podcast host Peter McCormack remarked, "We are happy to work with OpenNode to support us in our ambition to run on a bitcoin standard." "I've known the OpenNode team for a long time and knew they'd be a good fit for our project."
