On May 20, 2022, Litecoin has activated a privacy feature called Mimblewimble, this means that since then Litecoin users can carry out confidential transactions via the Litecoin blockchain.
Although the main purpose of the Mimblewimble feature is to increase user security, this is contrary to crypto regulations in many countries that require KYC and anti-money laundering. In order to comply with government regulations, two major South Korean crypto exchanges, Bithumb and Upbit, immediately delisted Litecoin. and may soon be followed by other crypto exchanges such as Korbit and Coinone.
