Cross staffing is a system where workers are being trained to function efficiently in spheres outside their primary job role in an organisation. For instance, a staff that was employed to be a marketer is trained intensively in server room management, customer support, administration and other aspects of the organisation. Could this kind of personnel management augur well for a business organisation? Let's check out.
1) Elimination of gaps in cases of emergency: When an organisation has cross trained staff, it can't be stranded in an emergency case of a staff suddenly resigning and absenteeism as another staff can stand in very well.
2) Stronger Collaboration and teamwork: Since almost all the staff are knowledgeable in all the aspects of the business operations, the staff can easily collaborate and work together to complete projects and tasks which leads to greater team work.
Do you think that cross staffing is a jack of all trades, master of none practice or it is ideal personnel management practice in business?
