Important tips for employees and business owners

It's hard to stay on track when you're busy. The temptation is to take shortcuts or make up for lost time by working longer and harder.

But doing so can lead to burnout and even contribute to an employee's early exit from a job. Here are four common workplace traps that can have negative consequences for your employees:

Skipping breaks or lunches. Intermittent fasting is trendy right now, but it's not good for your body or your mental health. Employees who skip meals risk losing their ability to concentrate and perform well at work — and they may not realize how much they need food until they're too hungry too late.

Going over the same tasks repeatedly without making improvements. Employees with repetitive work tasks may feel like they're wasting their time, so they put in extra hours without realizing how much effort it takes to do the same thing multiple times. This can cause burnout before long-term success even begins!

Working on weekends or during holidays without taking vacations first. Taking time off allows employees to recharge, both physically and mentally, so try not to let them feel pressured into working extra hours during their vacation days instead of relaxing at home with their families — unless of course that's what you want them to do.
