Job rotation involves periodically moving people from one specialised jib to another with a view to preventing stagnation by introducing a reasonable degree of novelty by ways of variety into repetitious and routine jobs.

Job rotation means moving employees from job to job. It is workers that are rotated and not the jobs.
It is a swap positions, while swapping positions the nature of of job may not necessarily change.. It nevertheless increase the number of duties performed by an employee over a period of time.

Job rotation can help remove boredom and the resulting alienation. However, the danger with this approach is that care must be taken so that people do not feel unfairly manipulated and dis-oriented.

In what way can job rotation affect business negatively or positively?

Based on my experience the job rotation is only practiced for low level positions which have a similarity in its nature. An actual example is an encoder that would be rotated with data control. They are both using the keyboard to enter data although with a different purpose. With a programmer there is no way it can be rotated with other jobs.

There are two angles to view things and this one is also included. Job rotation makes a company to produce below efficiency. This is because they can put someone that is not efficient in a place that he knows nothing about. And the advantage is that it promotes specialization and efficiency.
