Toxic people can cause a lot of damage in the workplace. If you’re dealing with a toxic coworker, it’s important to know how to deal with them so that you can keep your job and enjoy the workplace.

Here are five tips for dealing with toxic coworkers:

1. Don’t go along with their behavior. A toxic person is often only doing this because they’re trying to get attention, so don’t give them any.

2. Don’t try to change them or make them see things your way — that will only encourage them further. Instead, focus on what you can do to improve your situation at work, and leave the toxic coworker out of it.

3. Don’t let them get under your skin — if they are making you angry, frustrated or upset, just ignore them until they stop being annoying or irritating. You don’t have time for these kinds of people at work anyway.

4. Don't be afraid of confrontation — confrontations are an important part of business relationships. However, don't let confrontations turn into arguments; instead try to find common ground between the two parties involved.

We've all dealt with toxic coworkers. They're the ones who undermine your authority, treat you like dirt, and leave a trail of broken friendships in their wake.
But you can't be a toxic coworker too. You have to be friendly and supportive, or at least pretend to be, if you want to keep your job.

Here are some ways to outsmart a toxic coworker:

Respect boundaries. Toxic coworkers make it clear that they're not going to play nice with anyone else at work — even if it means putting up with their behavior for a while or pretending to get along with them. This is one reason why they're so toxic: They don't care what anyone else thinks about how they behave. Instead of being defensive or an ally-in-waiting, look for ways to let them know what's okay and what isn't — even if it means stepping outside your comfort zone. It's better than getting sucked into doing things you don't want just because the toxic coworker says so — or worse, letting yourself become a victim of their bullying tactics.
Be proactive about managing conflict.

Sometimes, outsmarting a toxic co-worker is very difficult. They would stretch your patience in so many ways and the process, you might end up losing it. So why not avoid unnecessary toxicity in the workplace? I almost slapped a co-worker the other day. If not for the fact that I did hold myself.

Like is there no way to evaluate the maturity level of people before employing them? From what I have observed, it is immature people that always exude unnecessary toxicity in the workplace. Someone that is mature has no business being toxic and generating negative energy. It is terrible.

Negative energy from people is a bad enough trait. It even gets worse when you bring it to the workplace. The worst part is that this toxic person forgets that anyone can decide to assume a form of toxicity in them if the situation warrants it. We can a be petty. No one has a monopoly of toxicity.
