Everyone understand that location is one of the most important factors when we are starting up a business , An experience business tycoon will definitely understand the importance of location in any business , sometimes we are always advised to set up a business in a location with a high population preferably the Urban settlement.

Eventhough location might really help our business to succeed but if location is the most important thing we focus on and neglect the plans and preparation of the business then our business may not likely be in a smooth path..

In as much as we are interested in the location of a business it is also very important for us to take the planning of a business seriously , a business plan involves so many things and not just to arrange how the business will work, it also comprises of all the needed step that is to be taken to achieve the best success in a business organisation.

A business plan in the other hand may also involve all the necessary business staff that is needed in a particular business organisation to run the business effectively, proper risk management and good financial managing system is also things we have to consider when we are establishing a business.. if everything are in perfect order together with a good location there will always be a high chance of business success.

I totally agree with you on this. A good location is a very good thing to consider when starting a business. It ensures that you place your business where your customers can easily reach you. You always consider what is in high demand in an area before setting up your business there. That way, you satisfy the needs of people around you fully.

However, business planning is of much more importance. If you just focus on the location alone, you won't make much out of your business. A good business plan will tell you how much capital you need, including all the other resources too, both human resources and inhuman resources.

I agree with you that business planning should also include risk and response planning too. You should identify the possible challenges that may occur in your business and define a response plan for them. That way, you will be well prepared when disaster strikes.

The business plan will even help you choose the perfect location for setting the business. This is because planning also involves identifying your potential customers. That will lead you to choosing a place where they are most populated for business. Therefore, business planning should be your priority because it covers most things that you need to do for your business to run well.

This is exactly the problem with some entrepreneurs today, and they are serious battling and struggling on a daily basis because they have not looked inwards to see where the problem is coming from. Some investors believe all they require to be successful in business is just to sight a very good location and then start planting a business center in that location and the next thing they will get will be huge sales but they are later disappointed because the sales they were expecting was far from the reality on ground.

As a wise entrepreneur the first stage in the course of preparing to start of a business should be the planning stage, at this stage we must take into considerations all factors that are likely go to affect the business.

Although sighting a good location is very important because the business should be in a place where the customers can easily have access to without stress, and we must aswel consider the how we relate with our customers, we must consider our working capitals, we must consider those people that will also be working with us as touching their level of experience on the job and their input aswel.

Perfectly you have said everything just as as I wanted to said , a lot of people are just believing that if they can be able to keep their business in a good and industrials location then they do not really have any other thing to worry about because to them this really indicate that the business is in a position of being successful as most of them will think . But the reality is that for a business to be successful everything concerning the business must be balanced.

Okay if a business man or a business woman is just focusing on the location alone , then how will the person be able to know and overcome competition that will definitely be a challenge in the business.

All these things are thing we need to put into consideration and we have to put ways on how we can deal with each and every one of them.

A good location in a business does not really mean that you have to go into your business blank without having an understanding of what you want to achieve from your business, even if I have to start up a business now I have to be very careful about the business so I won't waste my money and lose my business at the same time.

Of course, good location is not the only thing needed for a business to become successful but it is actually one of the factors that determines if a business will be successful or not. Good location is very important in any business, when you are in a good location and you don't have a proper plan and roadmap of the business then there is a high tendency that you would not succeed. There is no doubt that when you are in a good location in the early stages of your business there will be large amount of income coming into the business but if you do not properly manage it then you may not really succeed as time goes on. There are a lot of things that determines if a business will be successful or not such as good location, proper planning, good government policies and determination and desire on the part of the business owner. it is quite important and necessary that business people put these things in place whenever they are going into a business in order to make sure that such a business succeeds. Having a clear road map is very important for any business to succeed.

Hmmm, very funny indeed how can one take food without taking water, it obviously won't go down well in the person's system and may later lead to other major health challenge which may eventually cost the person his or her life. That is the same thing that might likely happen to a business that is located in a business good location but the structure of the business not been well planned. The planning phase is something that should not be done hurriedly or haphazardly, a business as we know.is an entity on its own and should be treated as same. Just we try in every capacity to plan our lives that is how the life of a business should also be planned. We should not ignore or rush up the planning process of a business. This is what I have notice about some business people who are well strategically located even in the market square or centre and yet they claim market has not been going very well despite their location. This is because they don't have a very vibrant business strategy and at every little challenge is been faced with they are already considering winding up the business. Planning is key.

This is the experience of a family friend who opened up a restaurant in the highway going to a tourist town. The eatery specializes in goat's meat that is a delicacy here. Maybe they lacked planning that after 3 months of instant success the problem they faced is lack of supplies. They have only 1 supplier of goat's meat in that town. What they did was to import goat's meat from a faraway province. That added to the cost of operation. Perhaps if they had 3 suppliers then that lack of supply will not happen. A very good business location that lacked good planning.

Planning a business should not be focused only on the customers. Proper attention should also be given to the suppliers. When the price of the supplies will be increased then you are not beholden to just one supplier that you can choose where to order (the one with the lower price, of course).

You are right. Location is one intrinsic factor to consider when starting up a business. It is what defines the kind and number of customers you should be expecting.
However, location is not all there is for a business to record substantial growth.
Without proper planning, that 'great location' may turn out to be vain.
This is to say that proper planning is the most important. That is the first step to every business start up.
The business owner must have to first of all draft out a rich plan for his business. The plan has to cover what demands his prospective business is designed to meet, where it would be situated, the possible weaknesses, threats and opportunities available and how to deal with them.
Without this plan, even in the presence of a good location, the business may suffer greater challenges still.
Business owners should know that there are other things that determine the success of a business and work towards achieving the best results.
I have some businesses fold up here in the urban area. This can be attributed to poor planning. Business planning is like laying a structure's foundation, if it is poorly laid, the structure would surely collapse in no long time.

This is actually true most business owners who deals on the buying and selling of consumer goods receipt with their businesses in an area with high population in order to make sales to various consumers for-profit . in most cases they still could not make profit due to some certain internal and external reasons . Reasons like not considering the consumer tastes of people living in the area can also affect a business organisation from boosting profit .

Business owners must understand that location is important for a business to grow and develop but also considering the consumer taste is also another factor that determines the profitability of a business in a particular area . For example a business man or woman might decide to open a water bottling company in a particular area , and after establishing the business he or she comes to understand that people in the area do not make use of bottle water due to poor cost of living in the area rather they get their water from streams , Rivers , lakes , and oceans etc . Hoping you understand my point , business owners who intend to establish business of any kind must first consider the services which his business tends to offers is a pressing need or want for the people living in that area .

That's right, when it comes to business, everything works hand in hand. You might find the perfect location where you have easy access to your target audience, but without having a business plan, or even hard work, it is completely useless. You could also have a good business plan and the perfect location for the business, without hard work and consistency, every other thing would be completely useless. So everything has to work hand in hand to get the desired result.

This is a very deep and insightful thread. Inasmuch as location in a business is of essence and a top priority, situating a business in a good location without proper planning will not work. This is more like carrying a buying a nice car yet it has no fuel in it or it has faulty tyres, without first refueling the car or fixing the tyre, the car would be useless at that point. Good location no doubt is one of the keys in maximizing profits in a business but when it is devoid of proper planning, it means the business would decline. I use to emphasize that when once a business plan is faulty, the whole business is built on a loose foundation which can collapse at anytime. Good location without managing of funds is an unwise attribute, good location without customers satisfaction is unproductive. If you are a rude business owner, who thinks you have won the hearts of customers because of the location, and you display your indscipline and lackadaisical attitude, then you would loose out because even though your location is strategic and your rudeness detests customers, the lifewire which are the customers would cease to patronage your business venture.

It is true that a good location is required for a business to succeed, but without a business plan, a business cannot suceed. As a matter of fact, i believe that a business plan should contain plans for a good location of the business. The location of a business should be part of the business plan and hence, the business cannot do well without a business plan.
A business plan contains information about funding of a business, proper staffing, risks that may be associated with the business and so many others. Without making plans for all these and having a good location, i'm afraid that the business might not succeed. The importance of a business plan to a business should never be overlooked.
