As a result of high-fat diets, obesity rates have risen and blood clot formation has increased. Consequently, the incidence of heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular diseases has also increased. Because of this, it is important to know which foods dissolve blood clots. The two main types of blood clotting are fibrinogen that forms a mesh-like structure in the blood vessels and platelets that stick together to form a plug in the wound.

Both kinds of blood clots need to be dissolved. However, because platelet clots are smaller and more fragile than fibrinogen clots, they dissolve more easily. Foods containing vitamin C can dissolve both kinds of clots.

Blood clots are often caused by a lack of blood flow to the areas where they form. They can have many causes, including injury, pregnancy, and rapid changes in your position (such as when you are in an airplane). If you have a clot, it can be potentially fatal if it travels to your lungs or heart. However, there are some foods that may help dissolve blood clots and prevent them from traveling to dangerous areas.
