Honey is a healthy alternative to sugar, while honey may have antioxidant and anticancer properties, when it comes to the food pyramid, being considered an added sugar is one of the disadvantages of honey. It is a healthy choice in place of sugar, but just like any other thing, too much honey is bad for your health. Honey is rich in sugar and carbohydrates, so, if you eat too much honey, it can raise your blood sugar levels.

Frequent intake of added sugars has been associated with weight gain. Honey allergies can lead to anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening condition, it is characterized by skin rashes, facial swelling, nausea, vomiting, and shock.

Honey can cause diarrhea. It contains fructose in excess of glucose, which may lead to an incomplete fructose absorption in the body.

honey could carry secondary contamination, this is as a result of processing by humans, containers, wind, and dust although it is rare, it is important to exercise caution. If you have a history of food poisoning, avoid honey or purchase it only from a reliable seller. If you suffer from constipation, then honey can make it worse, and even if you don’t, too much honey can block you up because of the high content of fructose in it. Moreover, honey can also lead to bloating and/or diarrhoea as a result of your body’s inability to digest the sugars in honey.
