For a lot of people the average day involves a lot of time spent sitting, especially for those who work in offices or workshops. A lot of these persons spend over seven hours sitting down everyday. Prolonged sitting increases the risk of developing quite a lot number of illnesses. Excessive sitting can be very dangerous to your health and such effects on people could be short termed or long termed.

Researchers have linked sitting for long periods to a number of health challenges and concerns which develop overtime. Sitting for long relaxes the muscles and when this happens they take little glucose from the blood. This increases the risk of conditions such as heart disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes high blood sugar levels obesity and many other complications that are threats to one's health and personal well being. Sitting for too long also tightens the hip flexor and stiffens the hamstring muscles. Moreso, it slows the rate of metabolism in the body and thus reduces or affects the ability of the body to regulate blood sugar and blood pressure and also breakdown body fat.

Sitting for prolonged periods of time also stresses the spinal structures as well as other joints in the body such as the shoulder and hips.
More dangers attached to this include weak legs, depression and anxiety, bad back, stuff shoulder or neck among many others. Sonthe less sitting you do during the day, the better your chances of healthy living.
Having known the dangers, how can you avoid the various listed harms caused by sitting for too long? Sit less and move more.
Try to include more activities in your day that helps you stretch your muscles and as much as possible so joint relieving exercise. Stand often like during taking a phone call or a conversation.
Moving more helps your physical health and helps your brain to function properly.
