Divide and Rule is a man management strategy where you always put your subordinates against each other. As a business leader using the divide and rule strategy, you consciously instigate fights between staff of the organisation. The common goal is to shatter employee bonds that might threaten the power of leadership in an organisation.

Divide and Rule as unethical as it may sound might lead to productivity spikes in an organisation. Staff would always be competing to outdo each other. And that can make them to put more efforts in their work.

The balance though should be stated that Divide and Rule is not a sustainable strategy to manage businesses. It can only be used for short term and if used for long term always results in rebellion and a toxic work environment for the business organisation.

The “Divide and Rule” method aims to split up people or groups to keep a hold on power and stop them from coming together. Even so, this tactic is usually not the best way to manage because it brings about many problems. Trust starts to wear away, the workplace vibe turns sour, and people's spirits and drive drop. Talking to each other doesn't work well anymore, skilled workers leave more often, and it's harder for new ideas and creative thinking to flourish. Also, it can make changing things up tough, hurt how others see you, raise legal and ethical issues, and make employees less involved.
