Break and retest is basically when a market break outside of a range and make an impulsive move and then come back to the same range and retest it before moving further down, there are a lot ways to notice this, open your chart to a lower timeframe for example the 15 minutes and spot a range.
In a range markets will be moving towards a support and resistance, at any instance that the market breaks through either of them, it is said to be a break and when it comes back to the same range and test it before moving further it's said to be a retest, and there you have it break and retest.
