If you want to open your own online store (as opposed to creating an online store on third party ecommerce platforms like Ebay, Amnazon, Etsy, etc.), you have multiple options, for example shopify, big commerce, etc. However, in my opinion, the best option for creating your own online store is woocommerce.
Woocommerce is free. You might have to purchase a theme or plugins when you are building your online store on woocommmerce, however, the cost will be still low (purchasing premium themes and plugins is absolutely unnecessary, though)
You can build any kind of online store with woocommerce, for example, inventory based, affiliate store, print-on-demand store, dropshipping store, digital download store, multi vendor ecommerce marketplace, digital marketplace, etc.
Unlike ecommerce solutions like shoipify, where you do not have full control over your website files and databases, when you are using woocommerce, your store will be under your full control.
You don’t need specialized skills, you can create store even with zero web designing skills.
