Where to Sell Your Handmade Items?

If you can create products like jewelry, fashion accessories (scarves, hats, et.), and home and design products (cushion covers, pillowcase, rugs, towels, etc.), here are some marketplaces worth trying.

GLC Craft Mall: This online marketplace for indie creators was launched in 2004. In order to open a store, you need to pay a flat rate of $4.50 per month if you list less than 300 products. If you want to list more than 3000 items, you will have to pay $12 per month. Interestingly, the marketplace will allow you to use your own custom domain for your store url.

Luulla: From jewelry to wedding dresses, from fashion accessories to bath products, bags, purses, and decorative items, you can sell anything in the store. They offer three different plans. The basic plan which cost $15 per month allows you to list up to 500 products. They also charge you an additional 10 percent service charge. A mobile app is available for the marketplace, which makes it super easy to manage your store.

Selling your handmade products on one of these online marketplaces might not be a very good idea because they usually charge you a fee for each products that that you are selling through their platform. You should try selling your hand-made products on Facebook groups, at least that's where I saw they are very popular and you can also communicate eery easily with your buyers. You can also try local websites, because they are usually free and again it is much easier to talk with your customers and ship your products to them. Going internationally is not a good idea unless you can produce a large amount of products monthly (hundreds or thousands of them), and then you can start marketing your product and partnering with different websites, companies and services to help you sell and ship your products at a lower cost

Most of people or craft peoples who are making handmade goods are not too much educated and so they don't know where they sell their products. Most of online selling sites have strict term and condition to register products for sell. Site you mention above is only charging some $and have not other conditions like discount and free samples than it is useful for craft peoples

Hi Mika and everyone here! Thank you very much for your informative thread. It is such a great idea to make money by selling your handmade items online. This means that it is not necessary to open a physical shop but work online by listing your products on these marketplaces you mention. Consequently, it is ideal for those who like working online from the comfort of their own home without a boss causing them stress or for unemployed women. To be honest, I have never heard about these two marketplaces before. I will definitely search for them and explore their pages. If everything is fine with both marketplaces, I will surely inform some friends of mine who are creative ,so as to list their products there and make some money by selling them. Thanks a lot again for taking the time to share this useful and helpful information with us. It is highly appreciated!

If you want to sell handmade items, look no further than Amazon or Etsy. These platforms are well known, they have millions of customers, they get billions of visitors. When you want to sell online, you need to use a platform that is recognized and has regular customers. Let me ask one simple question. You want to buy a hand made purse, will you buy from Etsy or GLC Craft Mall, will you buy from Amazon or Luulla. When it comes to consumer behavior, they tend to go with the popular choices because they believe when they buy from popular stores, they are less likely to be cheated on.
Selling on Amazon is little complicated, it is not available world wide (only people in the countries where Amazon has regional offices can use Amazon's FBA program (FBA is Fulfilled By Amazon, which is a business model that requires you to fist send your products to Amazon warehouse and then list on Amazon store.
