Long-term strategic planning plays a vital role in the development of an enterprise. First of all, it can help companies clarify their future development directions and goals, and provide strong guidance for corporate decision-making. Secondly, long-term strategic planning helps enterprises optimize resource allocation, concentrate efforts on key areas, and achieve efficient development. At the same time, market research and risk assessment during the planning process can help companies avoid potential risks and enhance competitiveness. In addition, long-term strategic planning can also stimulate employees' sense of belonging and mission, form a common value pursuit, and promote the company's steady progress. In short, formulating and executing long-term strategic plans can help enterprises maintain their composure in a complex and ever-changing market environment and achieve sustainable development.

When a business plans strategically for the long term, they are able to determine the best direction for it even in the short term. That sense of direction gives the business an edge given that it would be able to choose leadership, recruit and delegate within the business organisation according to their long term goals and objectives. I believe that the initial set up of any business should have at least a 5 year plan if the business is supposed to be sustainable.
