People have different ideas about what it means to abuse drugs. It also extends to experts who seem to consider some things as not drug abuse but call it drug misuse.
Drug abuse to most people means taking hard drugs and substances like heroin, cocaine, cannabis and others like them. Some people argue though that any drug that is not used exactly for the disease it was made for us drug abuse.
A common example is the use of antibiotics like septrim for common cold, which is caused by a virus.
Another one is self medication especially when antibiotics are used for all types of stomach ache and fevers without proper testing.
What do you understand by drug abuse, and should drug misuse also count as drug abuse?
