One of the interesting use cases of blockchain is the virtual real estate. In recent time a lot of virtual real estate environments have evolved. Some of the popular virtual real estate environments are Axie Infinity, Decentraland, Sandbox, etc. Users can buy real estate properties in these virtual spaces, allow other users to mine in their land and earn profits when they discovered some valuable items. Users can also sell back their virtual properties for higher profits.

Recently, a Texas man was all over the news for spending his life savings in nonexistent land (virtual real estate). This man spent $18,000 in a virtual environment called Enropia Universe. The land he bought is called Khorum Coast. Enropia Universe is MMORPG. The game has micro-transactions where the users pay for in-game items, that’s how the investors like this man makes money through their virtual properties. This guy claims to have made $1200 already.

Do you think virtual real estate is a profitable investment? Or, this is just a gamble?
