My experience with blogging has lead me to believe that most bloggers make the mistake of having the wrong impression and expectations about it, which is responsible for their failure.

It's true there are other mistakes later like poor design and content, optimization and others, but it's mostly the first steps that determine of a blogger can go on to solve the problems that arise later, or they give up.

Blogging should not be made to look like the easiest path to making money, especially passive income online. It requires work and capital like other businesses, but it pays off nicely once it kicks off.
