You’ve finally sat down to write that blog post you’ve been meaning to write for weeks now… but where do you start? If you want people to actually read (and enjoy) what you’ve written, avoid starting off in any of these four ways:

1. The “I don’t know what to write” intro, We’ve all been there before: staring at a blank screen, not knowing how or where to start our latest blog post masterpiece… but admitting that in your introduction is a surefire way to lose readers before you even begin!

2. The “This isn’t really related but…” intro, So you didn’t quite hit on the topic you originally set out to write about… but instead of starting over, you just plow ahead anyway and try awkwardly shoehorning in the point you wanted to make somewhere along the way? Big mistake! This will only serve confuse and frustrate your readership.

3. The “Backstory dump” intro Telling an engaging story is one thing… but regurgitating paragraphs worth of backstory that has little bearing on the actual topic at hand is another entirely! Get straight to the point so people can decide whether or not they want stay for the ride… or bail out early while they still can..

4 .The “I am an expert on this subject because… ” intro
Unless you are literally an expert on the subject (in which case, why are you writing a blog post about it instead of publishing a book or something?), resist any urge whatsoeverto start things off by trying establish some sort of false authority on the matter at hand . Chances are good nobody will believe you anyway, and even if they did… who cares? Just get on with it already!
