If you are a digital artist, or an artist interested in selling a digital version of your art work, you can use these platforms to sell your artwork. Even though these platforms look similar, they have some key differences.

  1. Product types: Society6 is basically for home decor and lifestyle products. You can sell your art or photograph as wall art, phone cases, and clothing. Whereas Fine Art America specializes on fine art prints such as canvas, paper, and metal prints. Having said that you can also sell phone case, tote bags, and cushions with your art print.
  2. Quality: Fine Art America is best known for its high-quality prints. This art marketplace offers multiple paper and framing options. Society6, on the other hand, does not offer too many customizations despite offering quality prints.
  3. Pricing: Another key difference between Society 6 and Fine Art America is pricing. Society6 has a base cost and you will have to add markup cost. As far as Fine Art America is considered, you can set your own price.
  4. Commission structure: You get a flat commission rate on Society6. Fine Art America has a somewhat complex commission structure. How much you can earn depends on the type of products sold.
  5. Target audience: If you want to cater to a younger audience. You can try Society6. If your audience is an art-savvy and mature audience, you can try Fine Art America.
