Focusing on one business is a very good thing and I do not see it as a bad idea. It is good to focus on one business and it is a normal thing that a lot of people do but it is not something I would love to do. It is not good to put all your eggs in one basket.
I think it is better if someone can focus on two businesses. It is not a must because some people are not capable of taking care of two things at a time and that is why they just make sure that they are good with the single business that they do.
Focusing on one business will only make you earn money from one source but if you focus on two businesses, you will earn money from different sources and you will be financially free because you are making more money.
I will not advise anybody to focus on one business, especially as a business-oriented person. It will be better to focus on two or more but it depends on how well the person can combine handling of all of the businesses so that one of them will not lag behind.
