Our scientists have spent years studying the effects of eating at night, and they've found some pretty interesting stuff. Here's what we know so far:

You should definitely avoid eating at night if you're sleeping on your side, because it can cause acid reflux or GERD. You can eat at night if you're sleeping on your back or stomach, but if you sleep on your back, you should avoid acidic foods like tomato sauce or soda and especially orange juice.

The one time scientists would recommend eating at night is when you're sick or injured and need calories to keep your strength up this is why people who sleep with their pets say their animals will wake them up to eat when they're ill.
Different foods affect different people in different ways.

Eating at night is normal, it is what we call dinner. It only becomes bad when the night you eat is late, like eating one or two hours before sleep or waking up at night to eat. It has side effects, it has never been healthy.

Late-night eating may be more insidious than just a poor eating habit as it may get addictive and may even develop into a full-blown eating disorder known as 'Night Eating Syndrome'.

When you eat a late night dinner, it leads to several gastric issues. This is because the food does not digests properly and results in excessive acid secretion in stomach. Besides people who eat late at night also tend to sleep later, which may lead to a disturbed sleep cycle. It can also results in higher chances of depression and anxiety.

Your body's metabolism slows down during night time and is not as effective in burning calories as it is during the day time, so you might gain unhealthy weight.

It can increase your blood pressure, Studies have linked high blood pressure and higher fasting blood sugar levels with the habit of eating later in the night or having dinner way past the ideal time of 7 pm.
