For those who reside in a residential village and has an aptitude in selling you can start a small business of selling by the roadside. But first things first, you need to survey the fields which means the location, the customer and the product. Maybe the first step is to determine the product that you will sell based on the supplier that you can find. Next is the potential customers if there is a high demand. Lastly you settle for the location.

Selling by the roadside is an informal business so one advantage is that there is no need for a business license which also means you do not need to pay business taxes. You can see in the picture that the fruit stand has also some dresses being sold. At the end of the day you bring home everything and on the next day it is another selling day. A roadside selling business is like selling in the Sunday market except that in the roadside you can sell every day.

This method is common in an estate. Just like you said, sellers have to survey around to know the kind of goods and products that the resident will love to buy and also make sure to start with the lower quantity. The patronage will give him clue whether to increase the quantity or not.

You are right with the details about customers and competition. There are places where the roadside vendors are lined up by the roadside. One example are the vendors of boiled corn. They cook the corn right in the roadside. There's about 20 of them. But all of them are selling because it is a secondary highway and motorists always stop to buy.

Roadside selling works only when the place is visited by a lot of people. If no one visits the place where you have set up your shop, you will not be able to make money. A village means a dwelling where few people are living. If the village has few residents, how can your business become profitable? Location plays very important role in business.
