Rare Black Diamond Sold in Cryptocurrency

The famous British auction house Sotheby's has sold a rare black diamond, "The Enigma" for more than $4.2 million. The most surprise thing was that, the buyer has paid Price in cryptocurrency.

Description of "The Enigma" :-

  • It is of 555.55 carats.​
  • It has 55 facets.​
  • It's estimated age is about 1 billion years.​
  • It's origin is uncertain, but it is not believed to be originated in Earth. Furthermore, it is believed that this is a fragment of a diamond made black asteroid.​
  • According to the Guinness Book of World Records, 2006, it is the largest cut diamond in the world.​
The Buyer
Sotheby's did not disclose the name of The Enigma's buyer, or in which cryptocurrency the price was paid; but, Richard Hart, the creator of HEX, has claimed on Twitter that he is that anonymous buyer. Hart has dedicated The Enigma to the HEX community.​

I was wondering whether that was the meteorite diamond that made such waves on the news recently, but this apparently a different thing?
Either way, it's pretty cool that it was paid for in crypto.
