We bought 2 cars in 2013 – a Ford SUV and a compact Mitsubishi car. New cars are supposed to undergo preventive maintenance in the dealer’s shop. The cost of preventive maintenance is costly to my standard but we have to abide.
The Ford SUV has a guarantee of 5 years to cover engine replacement provided the preventive maintenance is observed. That is every 5,000 kilometers or 3 months whichever comes first.
The compact Mitsubishi car has also a guarantee based on the mileage. The preventive maintenance is every 5,000 kilometers regardless of the time it takes to reach that mileage. .
Based on the comparison of the Ford and Mitsubishi it looks like the Ford has been scamming us of the preventive maintenance. What is your take on this issue?
