Selling online can be a difficult proposition, but it doesn't have to be this way all through. let's talk about what you're actually selling. If you're selling something that's not particularly unique or valuable, then you should consider whether or not it'd be worth the time and money it would take to have it shipped.
If the item is too large or awkward for shipping, then you might want to consider just listing it as a "Buy It Now" listing instead of an auction. This means that if someone bids on the item in your auction, they win it straight away. The downside here is that there's no chance of bidding wars—and if you don't reach the reserve price (the minimum amount someone has to pay over), then you won't get paid at all!
However, if you're selling something that has some value to its owner (like an antique) or if it's something unique and rare—or even just something that people will want because of their personal tastes—then going for a full auction may not be the best option for your site.
Instead, try using Buy It Now listings instead of auctions when possible; this way there's no risk involved and everyone wins.
