New Business—How to Get Started?

You can't just dive into a business and expect it to be successful overnight. You have to invest in your business, and that means hiring employees and taking on debt.

It's tough to get started with a new business, and it's even tougher when you're starting out with no money or experience. So how do you get started? Here are some tips:

Find a mentor. Look at local businesses for inspiration and ask your friends and family members for advice as well.

Create a plan of action. Decide what your long-term goals are for your business before you start, then put together a strategy for getting there step by step. For example, if you want to make money through advertising, what will you do first? Where will you advertise? And how will you measure success?

Hire an accountant or lawyer (or both). If you're going into debt or raising capital from investors, it's best to have someone looking over your shoulder all the time—especially if this is your first venture.
