Mental Work vs Physical Work: Which is more energy-sapping.

Mental work is a kind of work that you have to do majorly with your brain. An example of mental work is writing, banking jobs, etc. Physical work is a kind of work that you majorly use your physical ability to perform the work. For example building site jobs, loading jobs, etc. Between mental and physical work, which said energy the most? I understand that most people would rush to say that physical work saps the most energy. I have been in those two sectors and I think mental work is more strenuous than physical work.

I have worked on a building site as a laborer before. I have also been writing articles. I have to say I don't feel the kind of fatigue I feel from writing for three hours in site work. The brain I think consumes a lot of energy for it to work at a high intensity. For me, mental work is more strenuous than physical work.
